Todd County VINE Coverage
Minnesota VINE is the custody-notification service for county jails and detention facilities. Todd County's official jail page directs people to VINE and gives the automated service number, 1-877-MN-4-VINE. The service is free, anonymous, and available at all times. It accepts a name or identification number and can provide county custody details or notice of a release, transfer, escape, and other reported change.
The participating jail sends updates to the service. State material says those updates commonly arrive every 15 or 30 minutes. That interval is not a promise that each physical event will appear at once. A court order may exist before jail staff finish the release process, and a VINE alert may follow the jail system's update. Record the screen's update time before comparing it with another source.

Search Todd County VINE Records
Start at VINELink, select Minnesota, and choose the offender or custody search. This is a one-person check, not a Todd County list of everyone released today. A partial name can help when the spelling is uncertain, but a name by itself is weak proof. Age, facility, booking details, and a facility or offender ID help separate people with similar names.
- Choose Minnesota and open the custody search.
- Enter the full or partial name, or use the known facility or offender identification number.
- Compare public identifiers and select the matching record instead of assuming the first result is correct.
- Open the record and read the current status, facility, booking information, identification number, any scheduled release field, and update time.
- If a release or transfer appears, ask Todd Sheriff Records to confirm the legal custody event.
- If no match appears, retry spelling and timing, then check the receiving county or MN DOC route.
An absent result does not establish a Todd County release. The person could be entered under a different form of the name, held elsewhere, newly booked but not yet included in the feed, transferred to another authority, or outside VINE's current searchable period. Check the date on the official Todd County current roster, but remember that it has no released tab. Older Todd County releases belong in the sheriff's permanent records, not in a notification service whose public retention period is not stated.

Todd County VINE Release Fields
Fields vary with the record and the data supplied by the facility. VINE may show a scheduled release date when one is available, but that is not the same as a completed physical release. The legal release or transfer record comes from the authority that held the person. Use the field labels as shown and avoid converting a planned date into a claim that someone has already left.

A Todd County detainee who leaves the current roster may have gone home, but transfer is another possible result. Register Todd County Release Alerts
Notification begins only after the correct person is selected. VINE supports phone, email, text, and in-app delivery. An account is optional, and registration can remain anonymous. - Enter the destination requested by the service.
- Create a PIN and finish the on-screen confirmation.
- Store the PIN so the registration can be changed or canceled and phone notices can be acknowledged.
A lost PIN can be addressed through the Customer First Center at 1-866-277-7477. General Minnesota VINE help is available through 1-877-664-8463. A successful registration means the system can send a notice based on the participating jail's feed. It does not place a hold, alter a court order, or guarantee the exact minute of physical departure.

VINE or Minnesota Haven?
Todd County has a distinctive notification boundary. Minnesota VINE covers county jails and detention facilities. Minnesota Haven is the DOC notification route for state-prison custody and supervision. A person transferred from the Todd County Detention Center to state prison can vanish from the county VINE trail without being released into the community.
After a documented transfer to MN DOC, search the DOC Public Viewer by name or six-digit MNDOC ID. An “Incarcerated” status concerns prison custody. “Under Supervision” means physical prison custody has ended while DOC or a community corrections authority still has sentence jurisdiction. Then use Minnesota Haven for notices about transfers, agent assignment, supervision changes, release milestones, expiration, escape, or return to supervision.

Haven registration materials list notices that VINE users may expect to find in the same system, including advance and final release notices. Keeping the two routes separate prevents missed alerts after the controlling agency changes.
Note: A transfer ends one notification trail and starts another; read the receiving-agency field before deciding that a person entered the community.
Todd County Release Record Check
A notification answers a timing question, while the sheriff's public data answers what legally happened. Minnesota Statutes section 13.82, subdivision 2 makes the date, time, and legal basis of release public arrest data. It separately makes the date, time, and legal basis of a custody transfer public, along with the receiving agency's identity. Ask for both alternatives. That phrasing matters when VINE reports a “transfer” or a roster name disappears.
Send a focused request to Todd County Sheriff Records. The county also publishes its data request policy and form. Include the full name, approximate arrest or booking date, and an incident or court number when known. Ask whether and where the adult was held, then request the release fields or, if custody changed hands, the transfer fields and receiving authority. Electronic delivery is useful when the data already exist in that form. The office may lawfully redact protected material while still providing the specified public fields.
The sheriff's permanent jail register provides another durable source. Under section 641.05, it records when and by what authority a person was liberated or otherwise disposed of. Unlike the changing current roster and VINE's unstated release-result retention, that register is designed as a lasting institutional record. Pair it with the court Register of Actions when the question also concerns bond, sentence, dismissal, warrant, or another court event.
A release record does not decide the criminal case. Someone can bond out while a charge remains open, and a case can end after the custody event. Likewise, a transfer record proves that Todd County custody ended but does not prove the person was free of all custody. Preserve each source's date and wording instead of forcing the events into one label.
Confirm Todd County VINE Changes
VINELink is not a court disposition source, an archive of all old Todd County bookings, or a federal locator. It reports data received from participating detention systems. Timing, name variation, and agency transfers can all produce a temporary gap. The Todd County roster has its own limit: it is a dated current-custody PDF with no released tab, release reason, or public archive.
